Dr. Chris Elphick recently went to visit the SEEDS participants at Bridgewater academy in the South West of England, and got involved in a little more exercise than he anticipated! With the help of Mr. James Williams, SEEDS participants have been meeting to exercise before school every single day. What a fantastic achievement!
Chris had the following to say about his visit, “I only went to see how things were going. I didn’t expect to actually join in on the exercise session! When I was handed a skipping rope I knew I had to get involved. It was so much fun! Everyone was pushing themselves really hard, and there was an amazing atmosphere in the room. Everyone was encouraging one another and working together, sipping from their water bottles when needed and getting back to it when ready. I am super proud of all the SEEDS participants for giving this such a chance in their school.”
When finding out about how the intervention had been going everyone revealed they had been regularly using their water bottles, thinking about healthy eating choices, and had been using their skipping rope. Below is a picture of Dr. Elphick with everyone who attended the before school 20 minute cardio session. Believe it or not, some of the participants wanted to do the exercise in green wigs and silver top hats! While, on the opposite end of the fashion spectrum, Dr. Elphick clearly picked the wrong outfit for the occasion. Regardless of your outfit, get out and get active, even for 5 minutes. But also remember when exercising it is vital you remain hydrated. So please drink plenty of water!
