The Children’s Health and Exercise Research Centre initiates research in paediatric exercise science to enhance our understanding of exercise, physical activity and sport that determines health and well-being. We are interested in optimising exercise, physical activity, and sport across a range of different paediatric groups, including healthy school aged children, children with chronic diseases and talented young athletes.

The city of Rotterdam aims to provide good healthcare that is accessible to everyone in the region. In addition, the city of Rotterdam works on prevention, preventing diseases and other health problems specific for large urban areas. In terms of the area that it serves, the Rotterdam-Rijnmond Public Health Service from the city of Rotterdam is the largest in the Netherlands. It serves all Rotterdam residents, as well as the residents of eighteen municipalities surrounding Rotterdam. Altogether, this includes 1.3 million people.
